Deposit cheques in a snap!

One of the features on our mobile app, Deposit Anywhere™, allows you to quickly and securely deposit cheques using our banking app on your smartphone or tablet. That means no more lining up at the bank or ATM to deposit your cheques.

It's easy-peasy.

Simply open the app, tap “Deposit Anywhere™”, take a picture of the front and back of your cheque, confirm the details and submit. That’s it. The funds immediately appear in your account. (Normal hold periods still apply).

Q: What is Deposit Anywhere™?

Based on mobile Remote Data Capture (RDC) technology, Deposit Anywhere™ is a new feature available on the Noventis’ mobile app that will allow you to conveniently, quickly and securely deposit Canadian cheques on your iPhone/iPad or Android devices.

Q: Which mobile devices is Deposit Anywhere™ available on?

Noventis’ Deposit Anywhere™ is compatible with Android, iPads, and iPhones (must be at least a 4s model). Your smartphone will require the autofocus function to use Deposit Anywhere™.

Q. How do I get Deposit Anywhere™?

Deposit Anywhere™ is part of our Noventis Mobile app which can be downloaded via Google Play for Android phones, and iTunes or the Apple App Store for iPhones/iPads. You do need to be an online banking member to set up your Noventis Mobile banking accounts. If you are not already set up for online banking, please contact a branch to get signed up.

Q: What are the benefits of Deposit Anywhere™?

With Deposit Anywhere™, any time is the right time to deposit cheques. Deposit Anywhere™ allows you to quickly and securely deposit Canadian cheques using our banking app on your smartphone from anywhere, day or night.

Q: Can anyone use the service?

This feature can only be used by members with Noventis’ online banking, who have downloaded the Noventis Mobile app on their smartphone or iPad.

Q: After using the service, how long does it take for funds to be deposited?

Similar to deposits at an ATM or in the branch, funds immediately appear in your account with availability subject to a seven day hold period.

Q: Is there a cost to use Deposit Anywhere™?

Deposit Anywhere™ is free at this time for personal accounts. Although Noventis Credit Union does not currently charge for the service, members may be subject to fees through their wireless carrier.

Q: Do I have to mail in the physical cheque after I use Deposit Anywhere™?

No, you do not need to send us the cheque, but you are recommended to keep your cheque for 90 days and then destroy it. After depositing a cheque via Deposit Anywhere™, you should write “Deposited; [date]; [reference number]” on the back of your cheque. This will serve as a reminder to prevent future accidental duplicate deposits.

Q. Can multiple cheques be deposited in one transaction?

No, each cheque must be deposited separately. Once the deposit is confirmed and accepted, you will receive a receipt confirmation message that it was successfully deposited to the account. You will then have the option to deposit another cheque.

Q: What if I take a bad picture of the cheque?

The mobile Remote Data Capture performs over 30 image quality assurance tests on each picture submitted to ensure the image is accurate and each field can be read. If the image does not meet all the criteria, the transaction will give you an error message and you will be asked to take a new picture.

Q. What happens if an incorrect amount is entered?

You have the opportunity to review details and make changes on the deposit confirmation screen before submitting. The app will confirm the amount entered is the same amount as shown in the photo. If this is not the case, the app will give you an error message and ask you to try again by retaking photos of the cheque.

Q. Do I need to endorse the back of the cheque I am depositing?

No. Signing into the mobile banking app effectively serves as your digital endorsement.

Q: Can I deposit a foreign currency cheque using Deposit Anywhere™?

No. Deposit Anywhere™ can only deposit Canadian cheques.

Q: Can Deposit Anywhere™ be used in the US?

Deposit Anywhere™ is available for download only in Canada. Once it has been downloaded, you can use it anywhere in the world, but only for Canadian cheques.

Q: Is there a risk of fraud with Deposit Anywhere™?

Deposit Anywhere™ is safe and secure. Your mobile banking transactions to Noventis Credit Union are protected and confidential. Cheque images are not stored on your device. Images are purged once the transaction is complete to prevent visibility of your personal information if the device is lost or stolen.
Public and free Wi-Fi connections should not be used for banking transactions; for enhanced security, we recommend you use your provider’s secure internet connection.

Q: Is there a maximum limit I can deposit via Deposit Anywhere™?

Yes. The maximum amount you can deposit per transaction is $100,000.
