2018 Election FAQs

We know you may have questions about the election...

So, here are some of those anticipated questions and their answers:

1.  When are the director elections this year?

The polls will be open from April 11th - 18th, 2018.

2.  How can I cast my ballot?

All voting will be conducted electronically this year by e-vote. You can access the voting site via a link on our website, using any personal device; or, you can visit any of our 11 branches to vote.

3.  Who is running in the election?

We have three positions available this year, and four candidates in the running. Full bios and photos are available here.

4.  What is the criteria to vote?

Voters must:

  • be a member of Noventis Credit Union
  • hold an account with a $5 membership share
  • be 18 years of age or older
  • (for corporations) be designated by the corporation to vote on its behalf via the certified copy of the resolution of directors. This form must be completed and submitted to your local branch. Please allow one business day from submitting the form to vote.

5.  How do I login to vote?

Once you reach the site, you will be asked to enter your account number and your date of birth. This will register you as a voter.

6.  I have multiple personal account numbers, which one do I use?

You can use any of your account numbers to log in.

7.  How many times can I vote if…

a.  I have a personal account and a joint account?

You will receive one ballot

b.  I have a personal account and a business account?

That depends. If you are the sole proprietor or a part of a partnership, you get one ballot.

If your business in incorporated, you are required to provide a certified copy of the resolution of directors, which designates who can vote in the name of that corporation.

In other words, you would get one ballot for your personal account, and if you are the designate for the corporation, you will get one ballot for that corporation. Please click here for a copy of this form.

8.  What if my spouse and I only have a joint account? Do we each get a ballot?

No. You will have the opportunity to vote for up to three candidates between the two of you on one ballot.

9.  What if I am not going to be in town during the election?

That’s no problem. Because all of the voting is done online this year, it can be done from anywhere.

10.  I am not going to have access to a computer. Can I use a proxy vote?

No. Our bylaws state members cannot appoint a proxy voter.

11.  I am a member, but I am under 18. Can I vote?

No. You need to be 18 to vote.

12.  What if I open my account just before or during the election? Do I still get a vote?

Yes. But we will require one business day to add you to the voting list.

13.  I am related to one of the candidates. May I still vote for them?


14.  Who should I vote for?

We cannot steer members’ votes. We can, however, provide members with the resources they need to make an informed decision. Please visit noventis.ca to read the candidate profiles.
