Effective September 28, 2020 - masks mandatory at three Noventis branches Expand/Collapse

Effective Monday, September 28th Winnipeg will move to the restricted ‘orange’ under the pandemic response system in MB. This includes multiple communities surrounding Winnipeg and directly affects three Noventis branches; Headingley, Selkirk and Starbuck. Therefore, following the mandate of the province masks will be required in these three branches.

CEBA extended until October 31, 2020 (Aug 31, 2020) Expand/Collapse

CEBA has been extended to October 31, 2020, making the program accessible longer to Canadians.

If you have already applied for a CEBA loan and have questions, please contact the new CEBA Call Centre at 1-888-324-4201 for a status of your application. The Call Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm EST. 

Is there a deadline for completing an application at my primary financial institution and for uploading supporting documents?

  • You must complete the CEBA application at your primary financial institution by latest October 31st, 2020.
  • After completing the application with your financial institution, you must upload supporting documentation.
  • It is recommended that you provide your supporting documents through the application-demande.ceba-cuec.ca site as soon as you are directed to do so by your financial institution.
  • Supporting documentation is a critical part of the application processes and delays in providing this information can result in a delay in the pre-funding eligibility validation and funding process.

Due to COVID, I had to defer my mortgage/loan payment for 6 months. What is the process to re-instate these payments? Expand/Collapse

If you are approaching the end of the 6 month deferral period OR are ready to re-instate your payments, please contact your Relationship Manager directly or call our Contact Centre at 1-844-826-6500.

Please note: The Credit Union will also be contacting all affected members.

How do I make a CEBA loan payment? Expand/Collapse

To make a payment to your CEBA loan, contact your Relationship Manager or our Contact Centre at 1-844-826-6500. 


Can I pay my CEBA loan in installments?
Yes. Simply discuss this option with your Relationship Manager or the Contact Centre Representative when you contact them. 


Where can I find the current balance of my CEBA loan?
You can view your CEBA loan (including the current balance) via online banking and on your monthly statement. 


Please be advised that if you pay more than 75% of the principal balance prior to December 31, 2022, you will not receive the full 25% of advanced funds as a repayment incentive.

For example:
If you originally received $40,000 and you pay $32,000 back before December 31, 2022, the pre-payment incentive received will be $8,000.

Please be advised that there were recent announcements from the Government of Canada, indicating some changes to the CEBA program. Therefore, the loan application will require updating.

We anticipate the revised application with the expanded criteria to be available in the near future. Please check back soon.

Branch access and hours of operation- effective June 22, 2020 Expand/Collapse

We’d like to thank our members for their continued patience and cooperation while we navigate this new normal during the pandemic. Effective Monday, June 22nd our final four branches will open to walk in services; Moosehorn, Lundar, Selkirk and Winnipeg Beach branches will be open from 10am-1pm Monday to Friday.

This means that all twelve Noventis branches will be open for walk in services as of Monday June 22. We continue to enforce social distancing protocols when visiting our branches.

Manitoba is doing a great job flattening the curve. Though we must still remain cautious and maintain social distancing, we’d like to announce that our Riverton and Starbuck branches will also open for walk in services beginning Monday, June 15th. 

Therefore, as of Monday June 15 the following eight Noventis branches will be open for walk in services:

Noventis branch access and hours of operation – effective June 8, 2020 Expand/Collapse

Due to the pandemic, Noventis branches have been closed to walk-in services since March 23, 2020, following the guidance of the Government of Manitoba. By closing our branches, our intention has been to help the province flatten the curve, therefore protecting our staff, members and the communities alike. Noventis members have continued to conduct daily banking transactions using multiple methods, including: online banking, Noventis Now, ATMs, iTMs and the Contact Centre.

In response to the Government of Manitoba’s most recent announcement for phase two of re-opening, Noventis will open 50% (6 branches) effective June 8th. These branches include:
  • Arborg
  • Ashern
  • Eriksdale
  • Fisher Branch
  • Gimli
  • Headingley
Some changes you will see when you visit these branches will include:
  • Revised hours of operation; 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday

Please be advised that all Noventis branches will remain closed to walk-in services at this time. We are here to help.

To complete daily banking transactions, we encourage members to use online banking or our Mobile App - Noventis Now - from the comfort of home.

Alternatively, our members may visit our branches to use the ITM or ATM at their convenience.

If our members have questions, our staff are available by telephone at 1-844-826-6500 from 7am - 7pm Monday through Saturday.

We thank all of our members for their patience while we make the necessary preparations to keep our staff and members safe so we can re-open our branches in the near future.

Scams & fraud (April 23, 2020) Expand/Collapse

While cybersecurity is an ongoing and very serious issue at the best of times, security experts say the spike in email scams during this coronavirus pandemic is the worst they have seen in years. This includes scams arising through email, text, phone or door to door.

Examples of scams:
  • Emails and texts from a financial institution asking you to click a link to be pre-approved for a low-interest rate loan to help you through these uncertain times
  • Email from someone in your company requesting to upload personnel information, or to send an urgent wire transfer.
  • Email advising to open an attachment from the World Health Organization (WHO) for more information on COVID-19
  • Fear-mongering emails, such as "Virus is now airborne" or "products Made in China have virus on them" and have a link to get more information
  • Emails from seemingly legitimate sources asking you to click "Donate here to help", or "Click here to see the tax cuts", or "Your Zoom attendees are waiting."
  • Phone call from government or health providers requesting credit card or banking information

Stay vigilant:
  • ​Tips for email in your work/personal email inboxes, for texts, and for phone calls
  • Be suspicious of any email or text that asks you to do something out of the ordinary
  • Do not open any attachment from an unknown sender, including known businesses
  • Hover over any links within any received email to view the URL address of that link; do not click that link before confirming the URL it links to
  • If you receive an email or text from any business or service with a link to click that seems legitimate, do not click the link, but rather go to the original website
  • Do not provide any financial/credit card or personal information to anyone via email, text or over the phone, regardless of how legitimate it sounds
  • Be sure that any action you are taking at your business is a legitimate request: emails from CEO, COO, etc., that are out of the ordinary must be confirmed with that person

Recommended action:

If you are a business, stay vigilant and report suspicious activity within your organization. Make sure all your employees see this information so they can stay aware as well. Post this information for your customers, on your websites and on your social media channels.

***A number of phone and online scams continue to circulate. A new one is a phone call supposedly from  MB hydro to say that your electricity will be cut off if you don’t pay a bill. Hydro has stopped doing any disconnections at this time. Hang up if contacted in this way

2. Return the completed forms by email to CEBA@noventis.ca.

When returning the forms, please ensure you return all the pages.

Note: If you are not able to return the forms by email with a signature, then an emailed copy returned to the Credit Union from the borrower's personal email account, with the words "I agree to the terms of the attached agreement" in the body of the email, shall constitute valid acceptance of the Agreement by the Borrower.

All applications will be processed as they are received.

Collabria is working hard to help Noventis members during these difficult times.

They have introduced several cardholder financial relief measures, including increased contactless transaction limits and minimum payment deferrals.

Interac Flash cumulative limit increase (April 8, 2020) Expand/Collapse

We are happy to share that we have increased the cumulative limit to $400 when using the 'tap' function on your Noventis debit card.

This will allow you to make more contactless purchases at your local retailers.

The change will take effect on your debit card the next time you enter your PIN at a point of sale terminal at any retailer.  

Please note: The per transaction limit remains at $100.

Effective March 23, 2020 - All Noventis branches are temporarily closed to walk-in services. (March 22, 2020) Expand/Collapse

In an effort to minimize the spread and flatten the curve of COVID-19, effective Monday, March 23rd, all Noventis branches will be closed temporarily to walk in services. All members are asked to use our online and self-serve options to conduct their daily banking activities. This includes:

  • Online banking/mobile app
  • iTMs (interactive Teller Machines) - Open 7am-7pm Monday to Saturday; available at six of our branch locations, including Gimli, Selkirk, Starbuck, Headingley, Lundar and Ashern. Noventis Credit Union is the only financial institution in MB to offer iTM services
  • ATM services (24/7)
  • Contact Centre 1-844-826-6500 - available 7am-7pm Monday to Saturday
  • Telephone banking 1-877-817-3131 (24/7)

If you require assistance with another service not available online or via self-serve, please call your local branch to schedule an appointment. Individuals will not be able to visit the branch if they:

  • have traveled in the last 14 days
  • are displaying any flu-like symptoms
  • have made contact with an individual in isolation or quarantine
  • are in self-quarantine/isolation

All regular business members will be contacted directly March 23. If you are a business member and you have additional questions, please contact your Relationship Manager or call your local branch. Please provide the following information:

Member deposits
The financial markets have experienced a direct impact as a result of COVID-19. However, this does not affect the deposits you have with Noventis Credit Union. All deposits are guaranteed by Deposit Guarantee Corporation of Manitoba (DGCM) without limit. This includes:

  • Chequing & savings accounts
  • RRSP, RRIF & TFSA deposits
  • Foreign currency deposits and term deposits, including those with terms exceeding 5 years.

Investments
Investment deposits with Credential Financial (Aviso) and other investment companies alike are not guaranteed under DGCM. If you have questions, please contact your advisor directly.

To help flatten the curve and slow the spread of COVID-19, all Noventis branches are closed effective March 23, 2020 for walk in services.

As a result, we acknowledge that our members will have questions, therefore, we have developed the following frequently asked questions for your reference.  Please take a moment to review the FAQ below.

If you still have questions, please call our Contact Centre at 1-844-826-6500 from 7am-7pm Monday thru Saturday.

Why can't I come to the branch if I just got back from a cruise/vacation?
As recommended by Manitoba public health, anyone who has traveled in the last 14 days should self-isolate to ensure they don’t start to present any symptoms of the virus. During these 14 days, even without symptoms an infected person can be contagious. We want to ensure you can still do your daily banking and therefore, ask that you use one of our online or self-serve options.

I don't want to use online banking, how can I still do my banking if the branch is closed?
Online banking is very convenient and user friendly. However, if you prefer you can either use our ATM or iTM services, telephone banking or call our Contact Centre at 1-844-826-6500.

I need a new debit card, can I get one?
Yes, if you need a new debit card, we ask that you call your local branch to book an appointment.

I don't have a debit card to use the ATM or iTM, can I get one?
Yes, if you book an appointment at your branch, they can issue you a new debit card to use at the ATM or in stores. Fortunately, you do not require a debit card to use our iTMs. The representative will simply ask you some questions to verify your identity.

How can I deposit my cheque?
As always, you can use Deposit AnyWhere which allows you to take a photo of your cheque and deposit it using our mobile app. For more information, click here.

Also, you can deposit your cheque at any Noventis ATM or iTM. For a listing of our ATM and iTM locations please click here.

How can I pay a bill?
Most bills can be registered as a bill payment on your online banking and paid directly. Alternatively, you can call our Contact Centre (1-844-826-6500), utilize telephone banking or visit one of our iTM’s. Furthermore, you can mail a cheque directly to the vendor.

How can I transfer money to my child in university?
The most convenient way to transfer money is to send an e-transfer using online banking. Alternatively, if the person you are transferring to is a Noventis member and you know their account number, you can call our Contact Centre (1-844-826-6500) and they will assist you with the transfer.

How can I withdraw cash?
We recommend that you use your debit or credit card at this time. However, if it is essential that you need cash, you can withdraw it from any Noventis ATM or iTM. Additionally, you can withdraw cash at any CU ATM on the Ding Free Network for no additional fees. To find a ding free ATM click here.

How can I register for online banking?
To register for online banking, call our Contact Centre at 1-844-826-6500 anytime from 7am-7pm Monday thru Saturday and they will walk you through your options.

How long will you have the branches temporarily closed for walk in services?
We will continue to monitor the situation and recommendations from the government of Manitoba. At this time we don’t know an exact timeline. For regular updates, please visit our website or follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Can I still order cheques?
Yes, you can order cheques using online banking or by calling our Contact Centre at 1-844-826-6500.

What can Noventis do for members who are unable to make their mortgage payments due to COVID-19?
If you are a Noventis member and you may be facing financial challenges due to the current events, we will be offering up to six-month payment deferrals for mortgages and loans. I operate a business and need to visit the branch to pick up coin, can I still do this?
Yes, all businesses will be contacted Monday March 23rd and advised of the process for special requests. If you have additional questions, please contact your local branch or our contact centre (1-844-826-6500).

I have a business deposit to bring to the credit union, how can I do this?
For all business deposits, we ask that you drop it off in our secure night deposit drop box- available at each branch. Each deposit should be sealed in an envelope or sealable bag with the business name and account number included as well as a summary of the deposit. All night deposits will be processed within one business day. If this is not an option, please contact your local branch to schedule an appointment.

What is Noventis doing to help limit the spread of COVID-19?
At our branches we have increased our cleaning practices and have implemented mandatory social distancing for staff and members. We are screening members who wish to enter the branches, and encouraging staff that can work from home, to work form home. Furthermore, we are requesting that all members conduct their daily banking activities online or by using our self-serve options such as: the ATM, iTM, Telephone banking and Contact Centre.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve on a daily basis, we want to keep you informed.

What are we doing to protect our staff and members in branches?

Our priority is the health and safety of our employees and their families, our members and our communities. In order to maintain a safe environment in our branches our employees have all been advised to follow the guidelines set out by the government.

Specifically, common surfaces are being sanitized on a regular basis. We encourage our employees to wash their hands regularly, avoid direct contact with others such as shaking hands and to stay home when feeling ill.

What can you do to help?

At this time, in order to prevent further spread of the virus, we ask that anyone visiting our branches follow the same protocol. Additionally, if you do present symptoms of the virus, are under self-quarantine or have been in contact with an individual who has been directed by public heath to quarantine , we ask that you do not visit our branches and rather call our Contact Centre or conduct your daily banking online.

Where possible we encourage online banking options to reduce in-person contact in our branches.

Warning - phishing scam related to COVID-19 (March 16, 2020) Expand/Collapse

We want to do our best to keep our members healthy - both physically and financially. That is why we want to share the following statement from the Government of Manitoba with you today:

"There have been reports of multiple phishing scams related to COVID-19. Many are asking people for credit card information to provide medication following a positive test results. This is not a call that Manitobans would receive from public health officials. Manitobans are advised to not provide any financial data, hang up on the call and to report to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at (toll-free) 1-888-495-8501."
